Pastoralist Rangeland Recovery Initiative

Total Money Required: USD 70,000

Supporting pastoralist communities with rangeland management, drought preparedness, and alternative livelihoods across Mudug.

Pastoralist communities across Puntland depend on healthy rangelands for their livestock and livelihoods. This initiative works with pastoralist groups to implement sustainable grazing practices, establish drought early warning systems, and diversify income through beekeeping and nursery management.

Since 2018, the programme has reached over 3,500 pastoralists with training on rangeland recovery, water point management, and livestock health during drought periods. Community resource management committees govern access to shared grazing lands.

The project integrates with our Land, Water and Droughts Program to ensure holistic support for communities on the front lines of climate change.
