Partnership with FAO Strengthens Food Security Programmes in Puntland

Horn Nature Conservation has deepened its partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to expand food security and sustainable agriculture programmes across Puntland. The collaboration builds on shared commitments to climate-resilient farming and community empowerment.

Under the expanded partnership, FAO provides technical expertise and seed funding for HNC's climate-smart agriculture training centres, while HNC contributes its extensive community networks and field experience in the Mudug region.

Joint activities include establishing new farmer field schools, distributing drought-tolerant seed packages, and conducting food security assessments in vulnerable districts. The partnership also supports HNC's research on agro-ecological zones in Puntland.

"Working with FAO allows us to bring international best practices to local contexts," said HNC's Programme Director. "Together, we are building a more food-secure future for Puntland's farming communities."
