HNC Engages 750,000 Individuals in Environmental Awareness Campaigns

By HNC Administrator

In 2025, Horn Nature Conservation reached over 750,000 individuals through radio programmes, school visits, community dialogues, and social media campaigns.

Environmental awareness is the foundation of lasting conservation action. In 2025, Horn Nature Conservation engaged over 750,000 individuals across Puntland and beyond through a multi-channel awareness strategy.

Our community radio programmes — broadcast in Somali on local stations — reached pastoralist communities in remote areas with messages on rangeland management, water conservation, and climate adaptation. In schools, HNC environmental clubs organized tree-planting days, waste clean-up campaigns, and essay competitions.

Community dialogues with elders and local leaders ensured that conservation messages were culturally relevant and grounded in traditional knowledge. Social media campaigns amplified key messages to younger audiences in urban centres.

"When people understand why the environment matters, they become conservation champions in their own communities," said HNC's Communications Lead. "Awareness is not the end goal — it is the beginning of action."
